Established in 1809 in Denby in Derbyshire, the famous pottery manufacturer is known for its handcrafted tableware and kitchenware, including the Heritage brand, chef James Martin Cook and high end Denby glassware, as well as a range of dog bowls.

Denby is owned by private equity firm Hilco, which bought the business in 2009, rescuing it from administration at the time.

Denby said it had ‘taken the necessary step of appointing FRP Advisory as administrators’, led by joint administrator Tony Wright.

The business has a total of 534 staff and the pottery will continue to operate as normal for the time being. It hires over 300 production staff in the UK factory.
