EY defends audit work for collapsed Wilko

EY auditors told MPs they robustly challenged Wilko management on financial forecasts before signing off the annual accounts in the run-up to the retailer’s collapse

In a lengthy hearing before the Business and Trade Committee, MPs questioned the senior management of Wilko about how the company collapsed, leadership failings and the payment of millions of pounds in dividends in the run-up to the collapse.

One of the key focuses of the hearing was on the role of EY, auditors of the collapsed high street retailer since 2019.
