The former finance officer of Falmouth Town Council has been found guilty of three allegations of misconduct by ACCA's disciplinary committee after a court found him guilty of a string of fraudulent expenses claims.
Simon Polglase received an 18-week sentence, suspended for 12 months, 100 hours' community service and was ordered to pay £500 costs at Truro Crown Court in October last year. He admitted to 11 counts of making fraudulent travel expense claims between February 2007 and 2010, which ranged from £57 to £290, and totalled £1,846.
ACCA's disciplinary committee found Polglase guilty of making false representations, failing to inform the institute of his conviction, and failing to co-operate with the investigating officer during the course of the investigation.
As a result Polglase, who was an affiliate member of the ACCA and was awaiting full membership, has been removed from the affiliate register ordered to pay costs of £1,000.
