It’s that time of year again with just two weeks to go until online self-assessment tax returns are due. Some people have used the extra time at home this year to complete them early. In fact, according to HMRC, almost 18,000 customers chose to start the New Year by filing their tax returns on 1 January, but there are still a lot of people left to file. The deadline for completing a 2019/20 self-assessment tax return online is Sunday 31 January and this reminder comes as Which? reveals that one in four self-employed workers plan to delay their tax bill for 2019-20, with many taxpayers struggling financially as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
