Flexible working: how to follow the new rules

Offering flexible working to the majority of staff may be hard to manage but it could increase productivity and is increasingly important to take seriously now that new employment law came into effect on 30 June, says Richard Smith, head of HR at Croner

New flexible working rules introduced by the government on 30 June 2014 will allow all qualifying workers the right to be able to make a flexible working request. This article looks at how accountancy and finance professions should deal with requests and looks at a popular form of flexible working in the industry – homeworking.
