Brand new office for Deloitte as move to new build Birmingham headquarters at One Centenary Way reinforces long-term investment in the Midlands

Deloitte has moved 1,000 staff into a brand new office at One Centenary Way in the brand new Paradise development in Birmingham city centre, taking 46,000 square feet of smart-enabled workspace across two floors of the contemporary building.

One Centenary Way is part of a £1.2bn development project in the heart of Birmingham near the town hall and Victoria Square, and when the whole site is completed will have eight buildings with 1.3m sq ft of office space, a hotel, residential towers, and three new public squares.

Juliet Halfhead, practice senior partner, Deloitte Midlands, said: ‘Our move represents a new era for our practice. The space creates an environment where our people can develop their skills and careers, build stronger relationships with clients and contribute to some of the most significant projects shaping the future of the Midlands.

‘One Centenary Way will become an integral part of our offering in the Midlands to our clients, partners and visitors, and will be the perfect environment for our people to grow and develop their skills and careers with us.

‘As a firm, we’re involved with some of the most exciting and ambitious projects in the region, particularly in real estate, and our new space will be a fantastic base from which to continue that work.’

Deloitte’s new space at Paradise offers a highly sustainable, low-carbon approach, with a pure electric heating and hot water supply system, and Smart access to services throughout its floorplates. Designed by architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCBS), it has a range of sustainability and environmental credentials including BREEAM Outstanding and NABERS 5-Star.

The Paradise building will be base for the latest intake of 90 trainees across Deloitte’s Midlands practice with a mix of graduates, BrightStart apprenticeships and industrial placement schemes joining the Big Four firm this autumn. This follows a strong round of 295 promotions in June, including two new partners and 11 new directors.

Deloitte joins a string of financial and professional services firms already in the new development, including EY, Forvis Mazars, Goldman Sachs and Quilter Cheviot, with global law firm Eversheds Sutherland moving in next year.

Richard Bray, managing partner for UK Places at Deloitte, said: ‘Local connections, local knowledge and a long-term commitment to place are powerful drivers. The firm’s continued investment in its Midlands team, including this move to One Centenary Way, reflects our commitment to supporting businesses throughout the UK.

‘We are proud of our ability to create and support exceptional careers in the places people want to live and work. By continuing to invest across our UK network, we’re creating environments that bring together our people, clients and communities.’

Deloitte opened the office with a flourish with an event attended by Vicky Gosling OBE, chair of the Birmingham 2027 Invictus Games, where Deloitte is an official partner, Nick Smith, head of infrastructure at Birmingham City Football Club, and Richard Parker, mayor of the West Midlands, as well as Darren Graves, UK CEO of Deloitte.
