Xero has partnered with Google Cloud to launch an accounting bot for the internet giant’s new Hangouts Chat feature which will allow accountants to communicate more effectively with their clients

Xero’s chat bot, named Ask, has been available via the accounting software provider’s dashboard platform, Xero HQ, for half a year.

Ask allows accountants to send queries directly to client email addresses stored within Xero HQ. Each query is then stored along with any client responses and any attachments.

Hangouts Chat users will be able to access Xero’s chat bot via Google’s G suite.

Another third party bot which may be of use to accountants comes from Egnyte who has integrated its document management system as a bot within the chat platform.

It is not yet known whether other accounting software providers will follow suit and integrate their own chat bots with Google’s new chat platform.

Hangouts Chat will allow users to upload items from Google Drive, collaborate on documents and slides, join online meetings with Hangouts Meet, or look up past conversations and shared files. It currently supports 28 languages and each chat room can support up to 8,000 members.

Google’s Hangouts Chat is available here.
