Graham has been with UHY Hacker Young for over a decade, having joined the graduate recruitment programme in 2003. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2006 and transitioned from general practice into a tax specialism soon after. In 2012 Graham qualified for and became a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and in 2015 he joined the board of directors. As a taxation services director, Graham is responsible for all of the firms’ private clients, being responsible both for ensuring that tax compliance obligations are met and providing added value and advisory services to them. In addition to shepherding his own portfolio Graham undertakes a variety of tax planning exercises for the firm wide client base including estate and succession planning as well as transactional structuring work. This extends into dealing with R&D claims, Patent Box regime elections and Capital Allowance claims. He is also regularly in dialogue with branches of HMRC, defending investigations into clients’ tax affairs, undertaking remedial work or managing interaction between the Revenue and our client base.
