According to the survey, 31% of Gen Zs and 38% of millennials cited the cost of living and personal finance as their greatest concern, which has overtaken climate change which took the top spot in last year’s findings.

Of the 23,000 respondents to the survey, which has been running for 11 years, over half 51% state that they live pay-cheque-to-pay-cheque and use all their monthly income on living costs.

To cover the cost of living, 42% of Gen Zs and 39% of millennials have stated that they have taken on a side hustle/ second job however these actions have helped increase the amount that are feeling ‘burnout’ due to their workloads with 52% of respondents feeling it.

The survey revealed that young people value flexible/remote working as it helps save them money with around 64% of Gen Z and millennials stating this. Around 42% said that they would prioritise flexible working if they were in charge at work, with almost half 49% stating that they currently have a hybrid working arrangement.
