The survey by the Association of Accounting Technicians (ATT) that featured 2,000 UK adults found that 56% felt that a university degree was not worth the investment and 62% believed that on-the-job experience was more valuable.

Alongside not going to university, the ATT found that many young people are considering starting their own businesses as an alternative to further education.

Since February, 18,000 small businesses have been started by members of Generation Z, and the number of 16-20 year-olds setting up as sole traders has increased by 72% since February 2020.
