HMRC expects to fully close the company by the end of the 2022-23 financial year and is taking the step as part of its Technology Sourcing Programme (TSP) under which, it is moving away from major IT contracts and developing a new technology supply chain model.

This is aimed at addressing technical debt, reducing risk in the IT estate, and providing more flexibility for the future with HMRC stating that it intends to ‘create an IT organisation and partnership that will enable HMRC to make the most of new technology to improve services for customers’.

There are no planned redundancies as a result of the closure with RCDTS employees either being transferred into the tax department or to commercial providers with HMRC contracts.
