HMRC offers 227 staff voluntary redundancy amid office closures

Nearly 230 HMRC staff have been offered voluntary redundancy as the government department’s new hubs programme is completed leading to the closure of offices across the country

The tax authority staff have until 30 July 2021 to accept the redundancy package.

HMRC has begun formal consultation with the recognised trade unions on the latest redundancy scheme which was launched on 24 June 2021 and has offered voluntary redundancy to 227 people whose offices are set to close or who were covered by previous schemes.

The majority of redundancies cover the offices in Cumbernauld, Saxon House and Leicester, which are due to close in 2022. The offers have been made to 157 people, at these locations, who have been declared to be beyond reasonable daily travel (RDT) of an alternative HMRC location.
