HMRC worker wins £240k compensation pay-out

An administrative worker with HMRC has won more than £240,000 in compensation after her employment was terminated for 'capability' reasons

Elaine Worsley, who had been employed by HMRC for 45 years, went to the employment tribunal over a grievance that she had been bullied by her line manager, Linda Marrison, over annual leave.

Held at Manchester’s Alexandra House, the employment tribunal awarded Worsley £243,957.98 in compensation, made up primarily from loss of earnings.

Worsley worked as an administrative officer at HMRC from age 16 but later fell out with her manager, alleging that bullying had affected her mental health.
