The Charity Commission is urging UK-based charities to take part in a consultation launched by the standards body the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on revising its recommendation designed to protect charities against terrorist abuse, amid concerns that some sham charities may be used as funding sources, or that legitimate charities are being used as a cover to pass on funds

The director of four Scottish bars has been disqualified for six years for failing to address the company’s tax and business rate affairs, resulting in over £130,000 owing to the local council and some £26,000 to HMRC, following an investigation by the Insolvency Service
