Diezani Alison Madueke, former Nigerian minister for petroleum for five years in the early 2010s, appeared again at Southwark Crown Court for the tenth week of her trial.

The argument from the Criminal Prosecution Service (CPS) centred around the accusation that Madueke accepted millions of pounds in bribes, living a ‘life of luxury’ with trips to Harrods and stays in apartments in Regent’s Park, as well as flights in private chartered jets.

The road to testifying in court has been a long one, taking to the stand exactly two months and 16 days into the trial.

Madueke was questioned by her defence barrister, Jonathan Laidlaw KC, where she categorically denied all charges.
