IASB to release IFRS for SMEs consultation in September

The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) plans to simplify revenue recognition rules when it issues the consultation on IFRS for SMEs accounting standard

The plan is to release a consultation outlining amendments to the SME standard in September this year. There will be a six-month consultation period so a final standard is unlikely to be released until late 2023.

The IASB tentatively decided to propose amendments to the IFRS for SMEs accounting standard to align Section 23 Revenue of the standard with IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers.
