Insurers face compliance issues with IFRS 17 rollout

Insurance companies are facing rising costs to make preparations for the introduction of IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts while 40% of largest companies are not ready for the accounting standard

Insurers have reported that there is still a huge amount of work to complete to deliver IFRS 17 ahead of the 2023 deadline, according to a global survey by Willis Towers Watson.

According to the latest survey, IFRS 17: Will we make it?, insurers report material progress has been made since the last poll in 2021, but the majority of respondents had ongoing delivery concerns resulting in the need to apply more shortcuts and simplifications in order to deliver on time.
