A senior judge has sought evidence from the BBC to substantiate allegations made against the administrators of the former Rangers football club.

Duff & Phelps who oversaw the administration of the Scottish club is alleged to have known that Rangers was purchased on the back of a promise of three years of season ticket sales.

Recordings of a conversation between Duff and Phelps partner, David Grier and former chairman Whyte, are purported to confirm that the administrators were aware of the controversial Ticketus deal.

Speaking at the Court of Session in Edinburgh, Lord Hodge approved the handing over of the old Rangers to BDO, who will act as liquidators, but was 'very concerned' at the public nature of the allegations that questioned the integrity of the administration process.

Hodge said: 'I have asked the BBC to provide me with a DVD of their allegations in May and October and may be requesting them to give a transcript of the entire telephone conversation so that I can see it in context.'

The judge highlighted the investigation currently being carried out by the Insolvency Practioners Association into the process and said he would review its findings in the subsequent report.
