The results of an internal audit at Munich Re have been published on a public website, revealing that staff at the world's largest reinsurer put a trip to a swingers' hotel in Jamaica on company expenses.

The questionable expenses emerged from Ergo, the primary insurance unit of Germany's Munich Re, which suffered a knock last year when a newspaper wrote that a subsidiary had rewarded top employees by hosting a sex party in Budapest in 2007, the The Daily Telegraph reported.

In a statement on its website, Ergo said it was publishing the details of the travel competition and the reward, in the interest of transparency and in the hope of restoring confidence.

The information, under the heading 'corporate governance', details how the group's internal audit division found more than 550 such trips had taken place over the last 10 years.

The company has now moved to prohibit trips outside of Europe. Ergo has now also determined that future incentivised trips will only be offered to employees with a spouse or partner.

Ergo boss Torsten Oletzky said: 'With the published material, you can make your own judgment,' Oletzky said.
