The European lawmakers are reviewing the accounting standard-setting process in light of Maystadt review

The European Commission is contemplating another change to the organisation and operations of the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG). This is the body that interfaces with the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) on behalf of Europe and advises the Commission on whether to endorse new International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for use in Europe. The aim is to enhance the EU's influence with the IASB but some fear it risks doing the reverse.
