IFRS expert David Cairns provides
a round-up of the latest international accounting standards
IASB
Financial Instruments
While some members of the International Accounting Standards
Board undoubtedly favour a full fair value approach for financial
assets and financial liabilities, the IASB has not proposed such an
approach at any time in its nine-year history. However, the IASB has
asked its constituents to comment on the Financial Accounting Standards
Board’s proposals for a full fair value approach (see below).
The IASB will use that feedback when it considers how to reconcile
any differences between its mixed measurement model in IFRS 9, Financial
Instruments, and the full fair value model in US GAAP.
