IASB consults on clarifying fair value in IAS 28

The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) plans minor amendments to IAS 28 improve application of fair value due to introduction of new IFRS 18 standard

The standard setter has called for rapid feedback on its plans to amend IAS 28 Investments in Associates and Joint Ventures, to ensure the standard is compatible with new IFRS standard, with the proposal focusing on which investments company reporters are allowed to measure using the fair value option.

The proposed narrow-scope amendments aim to improve consistency in application and provide clarity ahead of the effective date of IFRS 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements for accounting periods commencing 1 January 2027.
