Andrew Carr, finance director of
Merlin Entertainments, tells Jenny Hirschkorn how he helped the small
UK attractions operator grow to become second-largest in the world.
If you are taking the family out for the day this autumn, there’s
a fighting chance that the attraction you are heading for is operated
by Merlin Entertainments, the biggest leisure group you’ve
never heard of. But, if Merlin is a name unknown to you, the brands
it owns will certainly be familiar – brands like Legoland,
Alton Towers and Thorpe Park, which dominate the UK theme park sector,
while Madame Tussauds and the London Eye are must-sees on the itinerary
of any visitor to the capital.
