Working in the not-for-profit sector for FD Gary Davis is all about giving of his time, over money, says Jenny Hirschkorn.

It was while he was working as a volunteer in the Maldives that Gary Davis, director of finance of The Scout Association, became convinced that his future lay in the not-for-profit sector.

A graduate of Leeds University, London-born Davis’s first experience of working abroad was a two-year stint as an audit manager at Ernst & Young’s Auckland office in New Zealand. Taking a leisurely five months to get both there and back, it was only a matter of time before the travel bug returned to bite him.
