KPMG has been appointed administrator of printer, Newsfax International Limited.

The company, which employs around 70 people in Rainham, Essex, was placed went into administration on September 25 after attempts to find alternative ways to save the business were unsuccessful.

It had printed several newspapers, including the Metro, City AM and international titles such as the Wall Street Journal.

Allan Graham and Colin Haig from KPMG were appointed joint administrators of Newsfax International Limited.

Graham, restructuring partner at KPMG said: 'Unfortunately Newsfax International Limited has become a victim of the difficult environment faced by the printing industry, which faces over-capacity and tough pressure on pricing. The company has spent the past few months trying to find alternatives to save the business but these efforts have proved unsuccessful. The administrators are now reviewing the options for the business.'

It is understood that most of its customers have already found alternative suppliers.

Separately, administrators from BDO have been appointed to Newsfax (Bow) Limited, a related printing company, which operates out of a site in Stratford and employs around 30 people.

Trade title, PrintWeek reports that the FT has now taken over the Stratford plant, while Newsfax customer Metro has moved its business to the Newsprinters' 40-acre Hertfordshire plant, which already publishes The Sun, The Times and The Telegraph.
