This is the second time Claire’s Accessories has gone into administration within nine months after the high street retailer struggled through the last financial year. In the latest move, the business has ceased trading, closing 154 stores across the UK with 1,320 staff made redundant.
Joint administrators Phil Dakin, Benjamin Wiles and Janet Burt of Kroll were appointed in January, with a mission to sell Claire’s Accessories, which traded as CAUKI Limited after it was bought by private equity firm Modella last September. But failed to find a new buyer.
Now the final blow for Claire’s Accessories presence on the high street has been dealt, as Kroll, the joint administrators of CAUKI Limited, stated: ‘As of 27 April, all Claire’s standalone stores in UK and Ireland have ceased trading. All store employees have been advised of redundancy.’
