Chair McCann cautioned that ‘it will be a few weeks before the secretariat is fully in place so do not be concerned if there is no immediate response.
‘I would be particularly interested in hearing from those advisers representing individuals who are subject to the loan charge.’
The latest review was announced by the Treasury in late January and involves a limited scope review of the contentious loan charge scheme, focusing on the issues and reasons that are making it particularly difficult for taxpayers to pay the charges, and how HMRC can improve processes to make it easier to settle.
