Managing HR issues during periods of unrest

With disturbances in parts of Northern Ireland causing disruption, we look at what employers can do to manage the impact and keep staff safe and productive

The unrest is causing major disruption with businesses being forced to close early and transport being impacted so inevitably some employers will see their business and staff affected.

While unrest happens in localised areas, it is not just the employers located in those places that may be affected.

Staff may be travelling from or through those locations to unaffected areas or may be visiting for business reasons when normally they would be located far from the problems.

Below, we set out some of the issues that could arise and ways to manage them. Please note that this is based on the law in Great Britain. There may be some differences in the law in Northern Ireland.
