After discussions with potential new backers, the registered charity failed to find alternative funding and the financial problems were exacerbated when it lost a bid to host Euro Pride in 2028 earlier this month, which ‘led to the organisation no longer being financially viable’, the board of trustees of Manchester Pride said.

The Charity Commission is going to launch an investigation into the finances of the charity, which was forced to take the terminal step to liquidate after ‘a combination of rising costs, declining ticket sales and an ambitious refresh of the format aimed to challenge these issues’, the trustees claimed in a statement.

The collapse of the charity left hundreds of performers and creatives in serious financial difficulties after Manchester Pride failed to pay headliners and support acts who performed at the most recent event in August this year, as well as suppliers and contractors.
