Mandatory indemnity insurance for tax advisers dropped

HMRC has withdrawn its plans to introduce the mandatory requirement for tax advisers to have professional indemnity insurance (PII)

HMRC stated that the evidence from the consultation from March 2021, published yesterday, showed that professional indemnity insurance on its own ‘would not be an effective mechanism to raise standards across the market or improve consumer redress.’
