NAO has published a report stating that the Ministry of Defence has not been able to prioritise value for money from the contracts for its largest, most complex equipment programmes.

It also found that the government department, which is responsible for some of the most technically complex, risky, and costly procurement programmes in government, often prioritised short-term solutions give its affordability challenges and that weaknesses in departmental contract management often caused the department and suppliers to underestimate the scope and technical complexity of certain contracts.
