DO you act as an expert witness? a UK supreme court case could spell danger, says Andrew Wanambwa

The UK Supreme Court recently handed down a judgment that will be of interest to all accountants who act as expert witnesses.

In the case of Jones v Kaney, the ruling abolished the traditional ‘immunity from suit’ granted to experts in connection with their participation in civil proceedings. The abolition of immunity means that there is now greater scope for clients to sue negligent experts who have caused them to suffer loss.
