Olympic gold for ACCA trainee McKeever

Trainee accountant Ed McKeever has won gold in the Olympic 200m kayak sprint.

The 28 year-old, who is based in Bradford on Avon, led the race from the start and has been dubbed the 'Usain Bolt of the water' by some newspapers. He was described by teammate Richard Jefferies as an 'absolute animal' on the water.

McKeever, who is a part qualified ACCA trainee, crossed the finish line in 36.246 seconds to win Team GB's 26th gold medal. He adds the Olympic title to his 2010 world and European titles.

Post-race McKeever said his next challenges were marrying his Polish girlfriend next month and passing his ACCA exams. McKeever met his future wife, who is a PE teacher, while studying accountancy and finance at Kingston University.
