The Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) has appointed David Lyscom as policy director. The majority of Lyscom's career was spent at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, where he was UK ambassador to the OECD and IEA (International Energy Agency). Lyscom will report to Dr Ian Peters, IIA chief executive, and will join the executive management team.

The Department for Business has bolstered the board of the Industrial Development Advisory Board (IDAB) with the appointment of Hugh Brown, a senior restructuring partner at PwC, and Christopher Kinsella, ex CEO of the Chartered Management Institute and CFO of Dyson Group. The appointments are on an unpaid three-year basis. The board is responsible for advising government on growth strategy.

Mid-tier firm French Duncan has appointed Andrew Ford, formerly a senior manager in Deloitte's private client team, as tax director. Ford's appointment comes as French Duncan's tax group reports a year of growth which has seen turnover and gross profit rise by 20%.

Leonard Curtis Business Solutions Group, the debt restructuring and recovery firm, has appointed Conrad Beighton as a director in its Birmingham office. Beighton, a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association, joins LCBSG from Shipleys LLP. He has over 20 years' experience in corporate insolvency, working predominantly with SMEs.
