McDonalds has promoted Paul Pomroy to senior vice president, CFO of its UK & Northern Europe business. Having joined the fast-food chain in 1996 from Smith & Williamson, Pomroy responsibilities have included regional financial controller for London and the south east, head of business strategy and head of commercial finance.

Ross Welland has joined London firm Littlejohn as tax partner. Welland was most recently part of the tax team at Haines Watts and prior to that was at Horwath (now Crowe) Clark Whitehill.

Throgmorton has appointedNeil Oliver as tax director. Oliver leaves Ernst & Young where he has been for 24 years and is a former chairman of the Alternative Investment Management Association's (AIMA) tax committee.

Michael Bernstein has made partner at Charterhouse, joining the firm from Harris Lipman. Bernstein qualified as an accountant in 1976 beginning at Baker Rooke (later Baker Tilly) and then Stoy Hayward (now BDO), before establishing his own practice in 1982

Barbara Kroll has been made managing director at Twinfield, following the company's merger with Wolters Kluwer. Kroll was previously vice president for Europe at the company.
