Des Hudson has been appointed chairman of the Taxation Disciplinary Board for the next four-years, his appointment beginning on 1 November 2009. He currently acts as the chief executive of the Law Society of England and Wales and is former chief executive of ICAS. Robertshaw & Myers, the Skipton based accountancy firm has appointed Rohan Day as partner. He joined the firm as a trainee accountant in 2000 and went on to qualify in December 2001, having worked his way up the firm since. Iain McCusker has been brought in as Cripps Harries Hall's non-executive director. Previously the managing director of the ACCA, he will be joining the team with a career that spans three decades including being partner at Deloitte Haskins & Sells. Bishop Fleming, the south west accountancy firm, has appointed a new VAT director in the form of Rhona Graham. She has held senior VAT roles with Grant Thornton, Ernst & Young, Robson Rhodes, PricewaterhouseCoopers and HM Customs & Excise. Her expertise includes specialist advice to the social and affordable housing sector. Stephen Katz has been made a partner within David Rubin & Partners, adding to the five existing partners as the firm continues to grow. Katz has over 20 years' experience specialising in business acquisitions, corporate turnarounds, due diligence and pre-lending reviews. He makes the move from HW Fisher & Company where he was head of insolvency. Hawsons Chartered Accountants has made two new appointments - Richard Burkimsher joins as partner, while Natasha Awan has been made manager. Burkimsher has acted for a wide range of corporate clients providing audit, taxation and consultancy services. Awan has nine years' experience in the accounting sector, and is both AAT and ACA qualified.
