Deloitte has appointed Sam Hart as its new office senior partner for Bristol. A native Bristolian, Hart has over 30 years’ experience in professional services, and has been at Deloitte since 2005, becoming partner in 2009. She leads Deloitte Private in the South West and Wales, advising businesses across the region as well as UK-wide clients. In this new role, Hart will lead Deloitte Bristol’s 700 people, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment, based out of the firm’s state of the art office in the Halo building.
Bishop Fleming has appointed Taj Lalli as a partner to its Birmingham office. He joins as corporate finance partner and brings over two decades of experience in corporate finance and is a chartered financial analyst. Lalli will focus on deal-related activities, including mergers and acquisitions, and providing expertise in this area to support the firm’s growth and client needs in the Midlands. Croner-i has promoted Paul Robbins to director of tax, content and consultancy. He has been with the business since 1994, and has more than four decades experience in tax, accounting and audit. Robbins has been instrumental in building the Croner-i content team, the tax content as well as being one of the driving forces behind Navigate Tax. In his new role he will also oversee accounting and audit content along with bringing his experience and knowledge to the tax and VAT consultancy service, VIP Tax Team. Chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser Robbins originally trained at Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC).
Grant Thornton UK has appointed Stuart Quickenden as chair of the board, replacing interim chair Imogen Joss, who remains a board member as an independent non-executive (INE). Quickenden will chair the board, focusing on accelerating growth after the private equity deal with Cinven. He was previously managing partner and chair at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) UK and Ireland. Russ Parkin has been promoted to partner, leading the insolvency and asset recovery team across Leeds and Manchester at Grant Thornton. With over a decade at the firm, licensed insolvency practitioner Parkin will focus on domestic contentious insolvency matters. He started his career at Zolfo Cooper, now Alix Partners. David Mountjoy has been promoted to partner and will continue to lead the financial modelling team, based in London, supporting clients across transactions and fundraising, strategic planning, restructuring and insolvency, and funds and valuations. He has 20 years’ professional services experience and has been with GT since 2013, having started his career at EY.
Johnston Carmichael has appointed tax specialist Alison McGlashan as director in the construction and property incentives team in the Inverness office. A chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser, McGlashan brings more than 20 years’ experience in corporation tax, specialising in construction and property incentives, including capital allowances, across a wide range of sectors including retail, manufacturing, food and drink, real estate, energy and infrastructure. Previously she was a senior manager at EY.
Azets has as appointed debt advisory specialist Michael Davies as assistant manager in the growing debt advisory service to support businesses in the North West, based out of Stockport. He brings more than 10 years’ experience and was previously a business development manager with Reality Finance in Sheffield.
Frasers Group has appointed Sir Jon Thompson as chairman, to take over from David Daly, who is stepping down after eight years in the role. He is former head of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), the audit regulator, and previously was chief executive and director general of HMRC. Most recently Sir Jon was chair of HS2 but he stepped down earlier this year, and took on an executive director role at Frasers in June this year.
BDO Ireland has appointed Sinead Wallace as a director in the executive search & advisory team. Wallace is a specialist in foreign direct investment (FDI), having led national and cross-border talent acquisition initiatives for both start-ups and expansion projects, and brings extensive expertise in the Irish and European executive search and advisory sectors. Her previous role was as managing director at Artemis Executive Search & Advisory.
Beacon Rise Holdings has appointed Mark Tavener as chief financial officer (CFO) to oversee financial strategy, risk management, investment and financing decisions, budgeting, and financial team leadership. Tavener is a chartered accountant and brings more than 20 years’ experience in audit and corporate finance, from roles in both business and practice. Most recently he was CFO at AIM listed financial services company Manolete Partners, and originally trained at Deloitte, specialising in corporate finance.
Tekmar Group has appointed Phil Lanigan as CFO and executive director of the offshore energy services provider, replacing Leanne Wilkinson. He was formerly group CFO for energy services firm CRC Evans, which was formed from the oil and gas interests of Stanley Black & Decker Inc. He has over 30 years’ finance experience and has held a number of senior roles, including as group finance director at Styles & Wood and chair of the audit committee at LTE Group. He originally trained at Price Waterhouse, now PwC.
Capital Metals has appointed Anthony Eastman as CFO at the AIM listed mining business. He has over 20 years’ experience in financial management and corporate advisory services, primarily in the natural resources sector. The chartered accountant is a member of ICAEW and CAANZ, and is also a partner at Orana Corporate LLP, which acts as company secretary for the business. Eastman started his career at EY in Perth in Australia, and also worked for CalEnergy Gas.
