David Britton has joined BDO as a tax partner in the firm’s London office. He joins following 13 years at EY, having also held previous roles at HSMC. Britton specialises in advising banks, building societies, brokers and other fast-growth financial services companies on all UK direct tax matters.

Deloitte has appointed Paul Knight as a tax partner, leading on corporation tax advisory services to the public sector and charities. He joins from BDO where he was head of not for profit tax. Knight has spent the last 20 years providing tax advisory services across a wide range of sectors, with particular focus on social housing, education and charities. In his new role, Paul will strengthen Deloitte’s corporation tax capability, advising on financial transactions, capital development and compliance systems and processes.

UHY Hacker Young has appointed Rob Starr as a corporate finance director in its London office. Starr was previously corporate finance director at PwC Russia, and has also held strategic and corporate development (M&A) roles at GKN Plc, the global engineering business, and Care UK plc, the British health and social care company. He joins the firm from STARR consultancy, a corporate finance and business strategy consultancy he founded in 2014.

PwC has appointed Roger Gagnon to the newly created role of Chief Experience Officer (CXO) in its consulting practice. Previously, Gagnon held senior global leadership positions at digital agency Critical Mass, financial services consultancy Capco, RAPP Worldwide, where he was SVP customer experience strategy, and most recently as the UK&I MD of Idea Couture.

Mercer & Hole has appointed Jo Foster as strategic HR director. She joins from Fox Williams, a City law firm, where she held the position of HR director.

Shereen Shams-Eldin has joined Mc Gills chartered accountants as a trainee. As she already has her AAT Level 3 qualification, Shams-Eldin is now working towards gaining her Level 4 qualification.

Kevin Dancey has been named as the International Federation of Accountant’s (IFAC) CEO, succeeding Fayez Choudhury whose term expires at the end of the year. As well as leading CPA Canada and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Dancey has served as PwC’s Canadian senior partner and chief executive officer. Prior to the firm’s global merger with Price Waterhouse, he was Coopers & Lybrand’s national tax practice leader. Dancey joins IFAC on 14 May 2018.
