Crowe Clark Whitehill has appointed Robert Marchant and Keri Pay as VAT partners. Marchant joins the firm’s London office from PwC where he advised UK and multinational businesses in their indirect tax obligations. He will now lead a team providing a full range of VAT consulting and compliance services. Pay joins from BDO where he worked with large corporate and international companies, and will join the Midlands office.

Fiona Westwood has joined Smith & Williamson as a partner in its assurance and business services team. She has over 20 years’ experience with law firms, professional practices, charities and owner-managed businesses. Westwood joins from PwC where she was also a partner.

David Campbell has joined KPMG as partner within its enterprise practice. He joins from BDO where he was an audit partner and national head of leisure. Campbell will work with privately owned and PE backed businesses in the bars and restaurants space.

Baldwins Accountancy Group has appointed David Fish as corporate finance director, who will be based in the North East. He will work alongside the national corporate finance team and other offices across the UK. Fish has spent the last three years working as finance director within a high growth business and has also been an associate within local accountancy practices in the North, specialising within corporate finance.

Abbey Tax has appointed Christian Stobbs as managing director. He joins from Abbey Tax’s parent company Markel International, which he joined in 2015 having previously worked for The Boston Consulting Group.

Peter Dearing has been promoted to partner at Smailes Goldie Group, having been with the firm since graduating in 2002 with a maths degree. Dearing is a general practice chartered certified accountant and has expertise in sectors including engineering, logistics, technology, fishing and retail. He also has particular expertise in international matters, such as advising overseas businesses moving into the UK and UK-based businesses trading overseas.

MHA MacIntyre Hudson has appointed Gareth Peters as a tax partner in its Milton Keynes office. Peters is a chartered tax adviser who originally trained with the firm 12 years ago. He has provided a broad range of tax advice to private individuals, owner managed businesses and expert advice within the motor sector.

Melanie Pittas and Laura Mott have been promoted to partner at haysmacintyre. Pittas is a financial services specialist and is approaching ten years’ experience of working with FCA regulated entities, having joined the firm as a trainee in 2007.

Milsted Langdon has appointed Antonia Stokes as tax manager. Stokes specialises in a range of tax issues, targeted at wealthy individuals and their business interests and personal tax affairs.

National land management charity, the Land Trust, has promoted Paul Oberg to director of finance. A member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, Oberg’s early career focused on the corporate sector, from Clydesdale Bank and other businesses in the worlds of finance and computing, to the confectionery and soft drinks household name Cadbury Schweppes. He joined the Land Trust in November 2015 as financial controller.
