Career news this week includes a new global vice chair and area managing partner at EY, UHY expands Manchester team, partner appointments at Russell Brennan Keane and a reshuffle in Scottish government sees a new cabinet secretary for finance
EY has appointed Steve Krouskos as global vice chair-transaction advisory services (TAS) from 1 July 2016. Krouskos joined in 2002 as a direct admit partner from PwC and from 2013 he has held his position of deputy global vice chair. He has 25 years’ experience in mergers and acquisitions. He succeeds Pip McCrostie who retires 30 June to pursue a non-executive director career.
The firm has also appointed Andy Baldwin as area manager for Europe, Middle East, India and Africa practices starting from 1 July. Baldwin is currently the regional managing partner for EY’s financial services organisation in EMEIA. He replaces Mark Otty who has held the post for two years, Otty is moving onto a newly created role to become a key member of emerging markets committee.
Sharon Witley joins UHY Hacker Young Manchester in order to strengthen the turnaround and recovery (T&R) team. Witley joins from one of the UK’s leading financial solution companies, Knightsbride insolvency services. She also has experience working for GT for 11 years.
Russell Brennan Keane (RBK) chartered accountants has appointed two new partners, Chris Ball and James Fitzmaurice. Ball has 16 years’ experience with RBK working in corporate finance services and has particular expertise in transactions involving M&A,corporate restructures, re-financing and business valuations. Fitzmaurice has 19 years advising clients from sole traders to medium and large companies. His specialist areas include pharmacy, retail and agribusiness. He advises on accounting, auditing, tax compliance, tax planning, banking, corporate restructuring and statutory compliance matters.
Bishop Fleming partner Caroline Small has become president of the south west branch of the ICAEW. Since June 2013 she has sat on the committee of ICAEW south west and became deputy president last year.
Derek Mackay has been made cabinet secretary for finance and constitution for Scottish parliament. Mackay was previously minister for transport and islands and minister for local government and planning. He takes over from John Swinney who is the deputy first minister.
