Music stops as online retailer Zavvi collapses

Administration for Zavvi as financial strains catch up with online entertainment retailer forcing immediate closure and customers left without pre-paid collectibles

Chris Skey and Kerry Bailey of BDO have been appointed as joint administrators of ZavviGroup Ltd, which trades as Zavvi, leaving at least 70 staff at risk.

Known as the place to buy the latest officially licensed merchandise, collectibles, steelbooks and action figures, Zavvi’s last post on Facebook promoted the newly dropped Pokémon Special Edition Premium Collector’s Box, which was exclusive to Zavvi, a boxset complete with special premium hoodie, t-shirt, cap and keepsakes, ‘capturing the nostalgia of three decades of Pokémon’ retailing at £69.99, and available on buy now pay later schemes. Zavvi also had an in-house manufacturing and fulfilment hub.

BDO confirmed all online sales have been suspended, no refunds will be issued, and pre-orders will not be fulfilled.
