Scottish firm French Duncan LLP has appointed Ian Bremner CA as hotel accounting director. With 20 years’ experience in the hotel sector in the UK, Bremner was most recently managing director at Eagle Consulting and until 2005 was finance director of Scottish hotel company, Milton Hotels.

KPMG has announced a trio of partner to its Manchester office. Craig Wright joins as a partner specialising in internal audit, risk, compliance and advisory services. With more than 17 years’ experience, Wright arrives from BDO where he was national head of risk and advisory services. Steven Heath who began his career at KPMG’s Preston office in 1995, has been promoted to partner. He leads the deal advisory tax team in the North, Midlands and Scotland. John Moth, who has been promoted to partner in the transaction services team, joined KPMG in 2002 and has advised on a range of high-profile deals across the retail, transport and healthcare sectors.

Artorius Wealth has appointed Ian Marsh following the death of founder and CEO Richard Algar earlier this year. Marsh was the former CEO of Credit Suisse private banking in the UK, former CEO of Fleming Family and Partners Asset Management and, most recently a partner at Stonehage Fleming.

Crowe Clark Whitehill has promoted corporate tax specialist, Simon Crookston to partner. He is an established advisor, supporting entrepreneurs, family businesses and listed companies throughout the business lifecycle. Crookston joined the firm in October 2012 after 15 years at KPMG. Tim Redwood is also promoted to partner. He joined in December 2007 and has specialised in working with charities, of all sizes and type, for most of his career.  

Saffery Champness has named four partners bringing total partners and partner equivalents at the firm to 73. Sally Appleton joined the firm's Harrogate office 11 years ago, from a Big Four firm in Leeds, and specialises in landed estates and charities. David Chismon joined the firm's Bournemouth office in 2014 and is a member of the landed estates practice group with experience in advising high net worth individuals and rural estates. Having joined the London office's tax department in 2010, Emma Hendron specialises in private client tax advice, with extensive experience of advising non-domiciled individuals and offshore trustees. Based in Inverness since 2008, Coll Murchison-MacDonald works with businesses, entrepreneurs, and small to medium-sized corporates across the Highlands of Scotland and further afield.

Waltons Clark Whitehill has promoted George Hardey, head of tax at the firm, to its board of directors. Hardey joined the Tees Valley firm as a tax senior in 1999 from HMRC where he was a revenue officer. He rose to the position of senior tax manager, before being made an associate, and head of tax in 2014.

Clive Owen has strengthened its senior team and restructured the accounting practice to create Clive Owen Managed Services.  Carole Wilson joins the team from Vantec (UK) Ltd as a senior manager. She has 30 years’ experience in payroll, including 20 years at Sage where she headed up the payroll bureau. Debbie Frei is hired as payroll manager and has spent many years in accountancy practices handling multiple payrolls for clients, and also has experience in personal tax. The pair join recent hire Ian Jarvis, associate director of Clive Owen Managed Services, who will oversee the link between payroll, auto enrolment and financial reporting.
