In the latest accountancy careers news, Grant Thornton and Price Bailey promote partners, BKL expands corporate finance team and Throgmorton hires private client tax specialist
Grant Thornton UK has strengthened its business support services industry group with the promotion of Keely Woodley and Usman Malik to partner. Woodley joined the firm in May 2005 after five years in private equity and is the head of the national recruitment sector team. Malik has been with the firm for over fourteen years and is the head of the national facilities management sector team.
Stuart Marcy has joined BKL’s corporate finance team. He brings 18 years of experience in corporate finance, including most recently a spell as a corporate finance director at Menzies.
Price Bailey has promoted Chris Godsave to partner in the business services team, based in the City of London. He has been with Price Bailey for 20 years and trained and qualified with the firm. During this time Chris has worked in four different offices including the firm’s Mayfair and City offices and in 2009 set up the City business team.
Throgmorton, part of Capita plc and a provider of accounting, tax, company secretarial, payroll and HR services to the SME financial services sector, has appointed Arron Fitzgerald as a private client tax manager. He previously held a similar role at Cordium and has over 15 years' experience in the industry, initially with HMRC and subsequently in both internal and client facing roles.
The Financial Conduct Authority’s acting chief executive Tracey McDermottT is to leave on 1 July. She announced her decision to withdraw from the process to appoint the permanent chief executive at the end of last year. Andrew Bailey is due to take up the position on 1 July.
Sam Woods has been appointed as Bailey’s replacement as deputy governor of the Bank of England with responsibility for prudential regulation. He has been appointed for a renewable term of five years. He will continue in his current role at the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) as executive director of insurance until he takes up his new role. Prior to joining the Financial Services Authority in 2011 and then transferring with it to the bank, he spent ten years at the Treasury and has also worked in the private sector for Diageo and McKinsey.
