The week's latest appointments including a director of corporate finance at MHA MacIntyre Hudson, RSM appoints a forensic partner and hires a head for RSM legal, Carey Olsen adds a senior associate to its British Virgin Island’s team
MHA MacIntyre Hudson has appointed Tallat Mahmood as a director in the firm’s corporate finance team, based in its Reading office. He has over 10 years’ experience, both as an adviser and business owner and will be advising growth businesses on fundraisings, buyouts, acquisitions and disposals. He will also discuss with business owners their strategic options for maximising value. Mahmood specialises in the digital and software markets and has his own digital business.
Carolyn Brown has joined RSM as the first head of its client legal services, RSM Legal LLP. She joins from Howard Kennedy where she was head of employment. Her areas of expertise include corporate employment legal rights advisory, legal risk assessment, claims and relationship structures. RSM Legal was established in April 2016 after the firm gained a licence from the Solicitors Regulation Authority to practise law. RSM has also appointed Akhlaq Ahmed as a forensic partner in the firm’s forensic practice. He has joined from a Big Four firm where he led the forensic business in the south of England.
Tim Wright has joined Carey Olsen in the British Virgin Islands as a senior associate of the dispute resolution and insolvency team. He has experience in insolvency (corporate and personal), shareholder disputes (in particular unfair prejudice claims), fraud, professional negligence, trusts and investigations, funds litigation and regulatory work. Previously, Wright worked in London for specialist litigation firm, Candey, and law practice Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. He trained and qualified at Herbert Smith Freehills with a focus on litigation and insolvency work.
Harrison Beale & Owen has appointed Mark Ashfield as managing director, succeeding Rob Kendall who has become chairman. Ashfield, who specialises in audit, cloud accounting and charities, joined the company 15 years ago from Grant Thornton. He became a partner in 2006 and will take over as head of the business in the spring.
Credit, debt and insolvency specialist Stephen Allinson has been appointed chairman of the Insolvency Service Board. Allinson, who is a solicitor licensed insolvency practitioner, is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Law and chairs the Joint Insolvency Examination Board as well as being a consultant with Shoosmiths LLP. He first joined the Insolvency Service Board as a non-executive director in 2015.
