In this week’s career moves, partner promotions and hires at Hays Mac, RSM, Mercer & Hole, AAB, HW Fisher, Rawlinson & Hunter, Advania, TT Electronics
RSM has appointed seven new partners internally, with David Field, employer solutions tax expert and Georgie Bole, corporate tax specialist promoted to partner in the tax practice. In the national audit team, Adam Gage and Dan Haden have also both reached partner level. The national consulting service line has promoted three partners including James Atkinson in deal services, Louise Rudd in finance function support and Natalie Stacey in corporate finance.
HaysMac has promoted Dom Noakes and Jon Maddison to partner. Noakes has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s approach to supporting high-growth, VC-backed businesses as head of technology, combining outsourced finance with broader advisory and digital transformation initiatives. As partner, he will continue to develop the business support practice and lead the growth of the technology sector. Maddison originally joined the firm as a graduate trainee before qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2018 then becoming a director responsible individual. He brings a blend of technical depth and leadership strength to technically demanding audit engagements across equity capital markets and industrials and manufacturing sectors. He is also closely involved in mentoring rising talent at the firm.
HW Fisher has hired Daphne Hemingway as a partner to lead the VAT team, bringing 30 years of experience in indirect tax. Chartered tax adviser Hemingway is an expert in VAT litigation and dispute resolution, known for delivering VAT solutions in niche areas, such as private education, not for profit, complex property transactions, partial exemption and corporate finance deals. She joins HW Fisher from Jerroms Miller, also part of Sumer, where she was a director.
Mercer & Hole has appointed Liz Fothergill as director and head of tax knowledge, a newly created role at the firm. Based in London, she will work closely with the private client and tax teams to support technical knowledge sharing and training. She is a qualified solicitor and brings more than 20 years of experience specialising in residence and domicile, offshore trusts, inheritance tax and capital gains tax. AAB has appointed Jon Grainger as chief operating officer to lead the technology, operations and integration teams, taking over from Derek Mitchell who is moving into a newly created strategic role as executive director where he will lead key integration initiatives and critical projects across the group. Grainger will focus on enabling the firm to embed end-to-end automation capability throughout its business operations. Grainger brings more than a decade of experience in professional services and IT consulting, and joins from business technology outsourcer CTIO101 where he was managing director.
Gerald Edelman has appointed four partners in the corporate finance and tax teams. Sam Barr is promoted to partner, while new joiners Jagdip Bharij, Creag Campbell-Ace and Andrew Smith bring the number of partners to 24. Barr, who trained at Deloitte and joined Gerald Edelman in 2023 from Stifel, has extensive experience advising businesses on M&A transactions and has been integral to scaling the corporate finance practice. Bharij, who joins from Low Carbon where he was head of tax, becomes a transaction tax partner, and brings significant experience in corporate tax advisory and compliance, having originally trained at PwC. Campbell-Ace brings 20 years of experience in transaction services, advisory and private equity, and joins the corporate finance team from Azets where he was also a partner. Smith brings more than two decades of experience, advising clients on complex tax matters, including private company acquisitions and disposals, corporate reorganisations and share valuations.
Rawlinson & Hunter LLP has promoted Ian Gray, Alex McBryde and Natasha Warren as directors in the private client tax team. Gray specialises in UK tax advice and compliance, and is a member of the ICAEW tax faculty private client committee. Chartered accountant and tax adviser McBryde provides advice and tax compliance support to international clients, including offshore trusts and investment companies. Warren advises individuals and trustees on complex UK and non-UK tax affairs, and is a chartered tax adviser and member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
Advania UK has appointed Sabrina Harris as chief financial officer, strengthening the leadership team at the IT services provider. Chartered management accountant Harris joins from BT, where she was finance director BT Business UK and International, leading commercial finance across global teams and complex customer contracts. She brings extensive experience in driving profitability, strengthening financial governance, and supporting large-scale transformation in technology-led environments.
TT Electronics plc has appointed of Ian Ashton as chief financial officer and executive director. He will succeed interim CFO Richard Webb, who has been in place since May. Chartered accountant Ashton brings a strong combination of financial expertise, operational insight and leadership experience to the listed group. He is currently group CFO of SIG plc, a role he has held since July 2020. Prior to joining SIG, he was CFO at Low & Bonar plc and also spent nearly two decades in several senior financial roles at Smith & Nephew plc, working at different times in the UK, US and Asia. A further announcement will be made in due course confirming the date of appointment.
