Appointments this week include four new partners at PwC, IFRS gets a new director, a promotion at EY, CIMA chief Charles Tilley moves to CGMA Research Foundation, Honeycomb Forensic Accountants appoints director, president of ICAEW becomes chairman of CCAB
PwC’s business recovery services team has appointed four partners: Mike Moffett, Victoria Tillbrook, Damien Ashford and Richard Siddall. Moffett is now partner in the operational restructuring team and has advised clients in this area for over 15 years. Tillbrook has become a partner in the pensions credit advisory team and over the last ten years her expertise has included assisting trustees and companies through negotiations relating to scheme funding and corporate transactions. Ashford has previous experience in private and public sector restructuring so has been been made partner in the government and public sector restructuring team with a specialism in healthcare. Siddall will be partner leading the debt and capital advisory team across the North, Midlands and Scotland. He has worked on 40 cases with £1.5bn of debt over the last year.
Errol Gardner has been appointed as global deputy vice chair of EY advisory services. He succeeds Steve Martin who will return to the EY financial services organisation. In his former role Gardner was global leader for the technology consulting practice and has previously held senior roles at IBM and PwC.
Costas Constantinou has joined Smith & Williamson, as a director in its forensic services department. He has over ten years’ experience in the valuations arena and joins from EY. He has previously worked for Duff & Phelps and gained a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Cambridge.
As demand has increased for services JW Hinks LLP, in Birmingham, has recruited seven members of staff. A number of the starters join the practice straight out of education and more than half of those who have been recruited are apprentices at the firm.
Honeycomb Forensic Accountants has appointed Chris Martindale as director of investigations. Martindale joins from the serious fraud office and has previously been head of investigations at RGL forensics and director and founder of the fraud and financial crime investigations team at BDO. His experience includes leading and directing UK investigations into numerous types of fraud including money laundering, tax, VAT evasion, internal and mortgage fraud, as well as investigating bribery and corruption in both criminal and civil cases.
The International Valuation Standards Council has appointed Nick Talbot as CEO. He was previously interim CEO of the IVSC on a part-time basis from June 2015 to March 2016. Prior to that Talbot spent 13 years in a variety of international, senior management roles at EY and KPMG before joining the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as a director four years ago. At RICS, he worked on a variety of projects internationally including advising different markets on how to embed IVS and develop valuation professionalism.
Dr Hilary Lindsay, president of ICAEW, has been appointed as chairman of CCAB. She succeeds Tony Nicholl. In the light of the outcome of the EU referendum, she is keen that the CCAB’s report on Business in Europe: Research Reforms for Sustainable Growth helps inform the debate on the UK’s future relationship with the European Union.
Harry McAdoo is leaving the ICAEW where he was director of communications and head of public affairs for the last 15 years and is to join ACCA as director of brand and corporate reputation. He will report to Alan Hatfield, executive director of strategy and development at ACCA. He will take up his new post in October.
The IFRS Foundation has appointed Richard Thorpe as director for trustee activities. He joins from the Financial Stability Board (FSB) where he was an advisor on accounting and auditing. Previously he was head of accounting, auditing and regulatory policy at the financial Conduct authority.
