‘This is a day to spell out our vision - I have a genuine sense this election feels different as so many people than ever seem uninspired, they are oping for a more ambitious vision.
‘The common thread that runs through this manifesto is fairness, in particular fair funding for Wales,’ said Rhun ap Iorwerth, the leader of Plaid Cymru.
He called for reform of the Barnett formula and should be scrapped for a needs based system. ‘This appeal for fair funding isn’t driven by ideology, it is driven by principle, it is driven by what is right.
‘There is nothing whatsoever that is inevitable about our poverty as a nation, which means we cannot create a thriving economy and world class public services given the tools that we need. So to the next UK government we say – show you are serious about Wales and resolve the long standing fair funding issues, and show that you are serious about backing our country.’
