£50m pension deficit causes collapse of Crown Agents

Crown Agents forced to close after being slapped with a winding up petition due to financial problems at the not for profit

Benjamin Wiles and Robert Goodhew of Kroll Advisory have been appointed as liquidators for Crown Agents Ltd, replacing the Official Receiver. The joint liquidators will wind down the business in accordance with their statutory duties.

The not for profit international development company has now ‘closed its operations’, according to an update on the Crown Agents’ website, citing a multimillion pension deficit.

Fergus John Drake had been chief executive since 2017 while director David Richardson stepped up to chair after he took over from Baroness Neville Rolfe who stepped down in October 2022.
