Eddie Stobart, one of the UK’s leading supply chain, transport and logistics companies, has announced it has appointed PwC as its new auditor, replacing KPMG.
The move followed a formal tender process, noted in the company's 2018 half-year reports, which said that 'A structured tender process is currently underway in relation to our external audit arrangements. We will provide an update to confirm our preferred audit firm for the group audit for the 2018 financial year when the tender process has been completed'.
Eddie Stobart was formed in 1970 and currently operates some 2,200 vehicles and 24 distrubtion centres across the Uk and Europe. It is currently listed on the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market (AIM), which it joined 25 April 2017. In its interim results, issued on 30 August 2018, it reported underlying revenue of £359.3m, a £25.3% increase on its 2017 earnings of £286.8m.
According to its 2017 annual report and accounts, KPMG was paid a total of £324,000 for audit services over the year, plus an additional £834,000 for non-audit services, which included tax and initial public offering (IPO) fees.
