Barratt Redrow hires EY for £3.3m audit

Housebuilder Barratt Redrow swaps auditor after nearly 20 years with current Big Four firm following mega merger

FTSE listed Barratt Redrow, the UK’s largest housebuilder, has appointed EY as external auditor following a competitive tender process. The plan is for the current statutory auditor Deloitte to step down after the 2027 financial year audit process is completed.

EY’s appointment will take effect from the financial year ending 2 July 2028 and Deloitte will remain as external auditor for the next two financial years through to July 2027.

Deloitte has been auditor for nearly two decades and was first appointed in 2007, then won the contract again in 2017 at an earlier tender. Now with the 20-year point approaching, a new auditor was required due to auditor rotation rules.
